베클로메타손 코 분무제나 버드손나이드 코 분무제는 비강 내 뿌릴 수 있게 만든 분말형태 코 분무제와 액체형태 코 분무제가 있다.
어떤 종류의 코르티코스테로이드 코 분무제는 의사의 처방에 따라 1일 1~2회 양쪽 비강 속에 뿌려 치료한다.
치료의 효과에 따라 몇 주 내지 몇 달 동안 알레르기 비염을 의사의 지시에 따라 치료할 수 있다.
일반적으로 비강 내 뿌리는 코르티코스테로이드 코 분무제로 알레르기 비염을 치료할 때 치료효과는 치료 시작한 후 12시간 경부터 나타나기 시작하는 것이 보통이다.

극심한 알레르기 비염이 앞서 설명한 약물 등으로 치료되지 않을 때 며칠 동안 경구용 코르티코스테로이드제나 근육 주사용 데포트–코르티코스테로이드제 (Depot-corticosteroid)로 치료할 수 있다.
