Contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging is widely used in the treatment of children and adolescents.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging is extremely popular in the treatment of children and adolescents.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging is widely used in the treatment of children and adolescents.

Instead of the conventional ultrasound imaging that was commonly used previously, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, which utilizes microparticles smaller than the size of red blood cells, is frequently used these days.

This examination can be used to diagnose liver lesions, diagnose vesicoureteral reflux, examine pediatric trauma, diagnose inflammatory bowel disease, assess surgical outcomes during and after surgery, and in other cases. When diagnosing diseases in children and adolescents using contrast-enhanced ultrasound,

there is no exposure to radiation;

the examination can be completed within a short time of a few minutes;

parents can be present with their children during the examination;

in most cases, anesthesia is not required;

repeated examinations can be easily performed;

no special preparation is required before the examination; and

since the micro-foam generated is easily expelled from the body through the lungs, the examination can be performed regardless of kidney or liver function.

It is also used for follow-up examinations after CT or MRI scans.
