Born in Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, he graduated from Hongseong High School. While he was attending Yonsei University School of Medicine, he passed ECFMG and after graduating from Yonsei University Medical School, he served in Muuichon for 2 years and served as a medical doctor in Korea for 3 years. He trained in pediatrics at UCONN Medical School, Connecticut, and Yale University School of Medicine, USA. He is an honorary member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Adolescent Subcommittee, a member of the Connecticut State Medical Association, and a member of the American Medical Association.
