개암나무꽃 Hazelnut tree flowers

개암나무꽃은 이른 3월에 잎보다 먼저 가지에 꽃이 핍니다. 암꽃과 수꽃이 한 나무에 달리지만 모양과 색깔은 사뭇 다릅니다. 수꽃은 꼬리 모양으로 꽃이 피어도 노란 꽃가루가 나올 뿐 갈색빛 나뭇가지 같은 모습은 그대로인 채 아래로 처집니다.

Hazel tree flowers bloom on the branches before the leaves in early March. Although male and female flowers grow on the same tree, their shapes and colors are quite different. Even when the male flowers bloom in the shape of a tail, only yellow pollen is released and the brown branch-like appearance remains.
