형제가 잘못 하면 몇 번이나 용서하리이까? (마 18:21-35)   

베드로가 예수님에게 물었습니다. “형제가 내게 죄를 범하면 몇 번이나 용서하여 주리이까 일곱 번까지 하오리이까?” 율법에는 세 번까지 용서하면 충분하다고 기록되어 있었습니다. 그는 주님의 칭찬을 듣고 싶어서 일곱 번까지 용서하면 되겠느냐고 물었던 것 같습니다. 그런데 그의 기대는 완전히 어긋나고 말았습니다. 주님의 대답은 전혀 다른 것이었습니다. 주님이 뭐라고 대답하셨습니까? “일곱 번뿐 아니라 일곱 번을 일흔 번까지라도 할지니라.” 그렇습니다! 진짜 용서에는 끝이 없다고 주님은 분명히 말씀하셨습니다.

How Many Times Should I Forgive? (Matthew 18:21-35)

Peter asked Jesus, “When my brother sins against me, how often shall I forgive him? Up to seven times?” The law stated that three times was sufficient. He probably asked if seven times was enough because he wanted to hear the Lord’s praise. But his expectations were completely dashed. The Lord’s answer was completely different. What did the Lord say? “I tell you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” Yes! The Lord clearly said that true forgiveness is endless.
