나의 막내 고모님 My youngest aunt
나의 할아버지는 나의 아버가 네살때, 할머니가 막내 고모님을 임신했을 때 돌아 가셨다고 한다.
그러니니까 막내 고모님( 여기 맨 왼쪽 사진) 아바지를 생전에 한번도 보시지 못 했다. 고모님은 안면도 섬에서 태어났다.
물론 학교도 다니지 못했다.
고모는 천수만 건너 홍성군 서부면 가나골 농부 고모부에게 시집 갔다.
아들 딸 다섯을 두고 농사지면서 살으셨다.
나는 안면도에서 홍성 중고등 학교를 다닐 때 그리고 서울에 연세의대를 다닐 때 방학이 되면 가끔 고모님을 다녀서 안면도 내집으로 갔다.
박정희 정권 시절 한국 대학생들에게 교복을 입고 뺐지를 달고 교모를 쓰고라 명령 했다.
내가 연세의대를 다닐때 내 반에서는 나 혼자 충청 남북도연세의대를 다녔고 그 당시 홍성군 내 의사가 두명, 서산군내 에 두명이 밖에 었을 때 이였다.
내가 연세의대 교모 교복을 입고 고모님댁 가면 고모님이 너무 좋아하면서 크게 웃으셨다.
고모부는 공부도 못 해서 농부이나 그 옆 집에서 사는 고모부 사춘은 서부면 면서기이고 양복을 입고 출퇴근을 하고 사춘 낄이 서로 말도 않고 지내니 고모 님은 항상 열등감을 갖고 살었다.
친정 오빠 아들이 장차 의사가 된다고 가기어려운 연세의대에 다니는것을 한번 자랑하고 싶었다.
나보고, 상원아.. 내일 아침에는 고모부 사춘 집을 열번 삥삥 도라라 하시더라고.
시키는대로 그 집을 열번 돌았다.
저는 그후 의사도 되고 소아 가정 간호 백과 책도 쓰고 연세 대학교 총님들과 고모님을 비롯해 가족 친지 200명을 모시고 로텔 호텔에서 출판기념회에 까지 오신 고모님. 감사합니다.
My youngest aunt
My grandfather passed away when my father was four years old and my grandmother was pregnant with my youngest aunt.
So my youngest aunt (pictured here in the left) never saw her father in her lifetime. She was born on Anmyeondo Island.
Of course, she didn’t go to school.
My aunt crossed Cheonsuman Bay and married my uncle, a farmer in Ganagol, Seobu-myeon, Hongseong-gun.
She had five sons and daughters and lived as a farmer.
When I was attending Hongseong Middle and High School on Anmyeondo Island and Medical School, Yonsei University in Seoul, I sometimes visited my aunt during vacations and went to my house on Anmyeondo Island.
During the Park Chung-hee president regime, Korean college students were ordered to wear uniforms, badges, and caps.
When I was attending Yonsei University, I was the only one in my class who went to Yonsei University. At that time, there were only two doctors in Hongseong-gun and two in Seosan-gun. When I went to my aunt’s house wearing my school uniform, my aunt was so happy and laughed out loud.
My uncle was a farmer because he was not good at studying, but my uncle, Causon Sa-Chun, who lived next door, was a clerk in Seobu-myeon and wore a suit to work and never talked to each other, so my aunt always felt inferior.
My aunt wanted to brag about her older brother’s son going to Yonsei University, Medical school which is difficult to get into, because he would become a doctor.
He told me, Sang-won, to go around to my uncle’s house ten times tomorrow morning.
I did as she told and I went around to the house ten times.
After that, I became a doctor and wrote an encyclopedia of pediatric home nursing, and my aunt invited 200 family members, including the president of Yonsei University, to the book launch party at the Lotte Hotel. Thank you.
