마음 아픈 소식이다. 

나는 63년 동안 소아과 전문의로 활동해 왔다.

내가 다시 의과대학을 졸업하고 장래에 무슨 전문의가 되고 싶냐고 물으면 소아과 전문의가 되겠다고 두말할 것 없이 답하겠다.

아이들, 소아청소년은 각 가정의 자원이요 희망이고  그 나라의 자원이고 희망이다. 또 우리 인류의 자원이요 희망이다. 그들이 건강하고 행복하게 자라서 성인이 되어 행복하게 살게 하는 것은 우리가 할 일이다.

This is heartbreaking news.
I have been practicing as a pediatrician for 63 years.
If I were to graduate from medical school all over again and were asked which specialty I would choose for my future, I would answer without a moment’s hesitation: a pediatrician.

Children and adolescents are the resources and hope of their families, their nations, and indeed all of humanity. It is our duty to ensure they grow up healthy and happy and go on to lead fulfilling lives as adults.
