영아 급사 증후군(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome/SIDS)은 아동 학대로 인해 생겼는지 또는 영아 무시로 생겼는지 또는 다른 원인으로 생겼는지 감별 진단해야 한다.
병력을 통해 잘 알아보고 사망 후 사후 검시, 법의학 등을 통해 영아의 사망 원인을 알아 보기도 한다.
영아 급사로 갑자기 자녀를 잃은 가족의 애통을 동정으로 이해해 주고 장기간 생기는 심적 고통을 이해해 준다.
사망의 원인을 찾아내기 전 부모와 가족의 감정을 상하지 않게 조심해야 한다.
윤리·도덕적 면에서도 동정해 경제적·감정적 원조가 필요하면 그것도 도와 주고 감정을 이해해야 한다.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) must be differentially diagnosed to determine whether it is caused by child abuse, neglect of the infant, or other causes.
The infant’s cause of death is examined through medical history, and postmortem examinations and forensic examinations are conducted after death.
We must empathize with the grief of families who suddenly lose their children due to sudden infant death, and understand the long-term emotional pain they experience.
Before finding the cause of death, one must be careful not to hurt the feelings of parents and family.
In terms of ethics and morals, we must sympathize, provide financial and emotional support if needed, and understand their emotions.
