Cat cry syndrome, Chromosome 5 short-arm deletion syndrome
Caused by a partial deletion of the short arm of autosomal 5.
Infancy, a peculiar cry resembling a meowing cat, microcephaly, and a tendency toward occultism (schizoaffective disorder) with censored eyes.
Low birth weight, growth retardation, mental retardation, muscle weakness, microcephaly, round face, bilateral farsightedness, strabismus, medial canthus, cylindrical sacrum, cardiac anomalies, tachycardia, cryptorchidism, hypotrichosis, premotor skin tags, cleft palate, short neck, short metacarpals, bowed little finger, inguinal hernia, and sometimes aren’t kidneys and spleens.
Medical history, physical examination, and chromosome testing.
Symptomatic treatment, special care and education.
Special care is provided.
