오늘은 의사의 날이다.
Today is Doctor’s Day.
나는 어찌다가 충남 서산군 안면면 중장리 장등개 섬 산골 동네에서 농부의 자녀로 태어나 홍성 중고등 학교를 졸업하고 연세의대에 입학하여 자취, 가정교사, 노동일을 하고 각종 장학금으로 그 대학을 졸업하고 무의촌 2년 근무, 군의관 3년근무하고 호주머니에 단 돈 50불을 가지고 도미해 지금에 이르렀다.
태어나서 부터 내가 겪었던 병고에서 살아나고 두 사춘기 동생들은 생존하지 못하고 이 세상을 사춘기에 떠났다.
그 것 뿐만 아니라 우리 가정은 각종 병고로 잡안이 박살나고 파산되고 말았다. 이웃도 나라도 아무도 도와 주지 안했다.
결국 졸업후 나는 10명되는부모 형제 자매 집안 식구 경제를 책임지게 됐다. 그러다가 부모 형재 자매, 조카들을 미국에 이민시키게됐다.
이런 일이 다른 집안에서 생기지 않게 하기위해 거의 10여 권이 넘는 육아 양호 건강 질병 등 정보가 든 백과 책을 저작했고 거의 2만여 쪽 넘는 소아과학 웹사이트 한글판을 내 자비로 10여년 동안 운영하고 이제는 보다 더 쉽게 열람해서 전 세계 한인들이 이용해 모든 부모들이 적어도 반의사가 될 정도로 이용할 수 있는 새로운 소아학 가정 간호 웹사이트 drleepediatrics.com를 제작 중이다.

Today is Doctor’s Day.
Somehow, I was born as a farmer’s child in the mountain village of Jangdeunggae Island, Jungjang-ri, Anmyeon-myeon, Seosan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, graduated from Hongseong Middle and High School, entered Yonsei University School of Medicine, lived on my own, worked as a tutor, and worked as a laborer. After graduating from the university with various scholarships, I worked for two years at Muui Village. After working as a military doctor for 3 years, I emigrated with only $50 in my pocket to get to where I am today.
I survived the illness I suffered from birth, but my two adolescent younger siblings did not survive and left this world at the age of adolescence.
Not only that, but our family was devastated and bankrupt due to various illnesses. No one helped me, neither my neighbors nor my country.
In the end, after graduating, I became responsible for the finances of my family of 10 parents, siblings, and others. Then, my parents, brothers, sisters, and nephews immigrated to the United States.
To prevent this from happening in other families, I wrote more than 10 encyclopedias containing information on child care, health, and diseases, and ran a Korean version of a pediatrics website with over 20,000 pages at my own expense for 10 years. We are creating a new pediatric home care website, drleepediatrics.com, that will be easier to browse and use by Koreans around the world to the point where all parents can become at least half-doctors.
