소아청소년은 각 가정의 자원이며 장래이며 희망이고, 또한 그 나라의 자원이며 희망입니다.
그들이 건강하고 행복하게 자라서 성실하고 건강한 성인이 되기를 우리 모두는 바랍니다.
적절하고 좋은 의식주, 건강, 사랑은 우리 인간 모두에게 필수적인 근본 조건입니다.
불행하게도 고국인 한국뿐만 아니라 미국을 비롯해 요즘 우리 소아청소년들을 잘 육아하는 데 많은 문제가 있습니다. 특히 소아·청소년들에게 우울증, 불안, 스트레스, 가출, 자살 등의 문제가 많이 나타나고 있습니다. 원은 많이 있습니다.
초등학교 때부터 건강 및 기초 의학 과목을 산수, 국어, 과학 과목과 같이 두어 모든 학생들이 배우게 하는 것이 좋다고 생각합니다.
모든 국민이 의사나 간호원의 도움을 받을 때 의료진과 함께 자기 건강 문제를 잘 해결할 수 있도록 한다.
모든 동네 도서관에 “부모도 반의사가 되어야 한다 -소아 가정 간호 백과” 등 저의 육아 저서와 drleepediatrics.com 웹사이트 등을 비치하고, 컴퓨터도 비치해 모든 국민이 필요할 때 그 지방 어디든지 누구든지 참고하고 이용할 수 있게 해주세요.

To the President of my home country, South Korea:
I am a pediatrician practicing in both the United States and South Korea, and a father who has raised three children.
Children and adolescents are the resources, future, and hope of their families, as well as of the nation.
We all wish for them to grow up healthy and happy, becoming diligent and well-adjusted adults.
Adequate food, clothing, and shelter, along with good health and love, are fundamental necessities for all human beings.
Unfortunately, there are significant challenges in raising children and adolescents today—not only in my home country of Korea but also in the United States. Issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, running away from home, and suicide are becoming increasingly prevalent among the youth. There are many underlying causes for this.
I believe it would be beneficial to introduce subjects on health and basic medicine into the elementary school curriculum—alongside math, Korean language, and science—so that all students can learn about them.
This would empower citizens to effectively manage their own health issues in collaboration with medical professionals whenever they seek care.
Please make resources such as my parenting books (e.g., *Parents Should Be Half-Doctors: A Pediatric Home Care Encyclopedia*) and access to my website, drleepediatrics.com, available in every neighborhood library. By providing computers alongside these materials, you would enable anyone, anywhere in the country, to consult and utilize this information whenever needed.
Doing so will help the children and adolescents of our nation grow up happy and healthy.
