Get to know Pediatrician Dr. John Sangwon Lee, who serves patients in Willimantic, Connecticut.
An excellent pediatrician, Dr. Lee has been serving the community of Willimantic, Connecticut for the last 32 years.
Born in Chungnam, South Korea, he graduated with his medical degree from the Yonsei University College of Medicine. He worked in a non-doctor village for 2 years, and then joined the Korean Military, where he served for 3 years. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed two consecutive residencies in pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and at the Yale University School of Medicine.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), the doctor attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Professionally, Dr. Lee serves as the President of the Korean American Association of Connecticut, and is an active member of the National Advisory Board for Democratic Peace and Unification of the Republic of Korea.
With a passion for teaching, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and is the Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at Koshin Medical School in Korea.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
