An abnormal reaction, or hypersensitivity reaction, that occurs when antibodies come into contact with a specific allergen (antigen) is called an allergy.
A disease caused by an allergic reaction is called an allergic disease, allergic hypersensitivity, or hypersensitivity reaction.

People with an atopic constitution can develop atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, and other atopic diseases.
