Antiretrovirals are used to suppress HIV, blocking the virus’s life cycle and preventing it from spreading. With proper treatment, people living with HIV can maintain an undetectable viral load and a near-normal life expectancy.

항레트로바이러스제
항레트로바이러스제는 HIV 바이러스를 직접 사멸시키지는 않지만, 바이러스 생활사의 여러 단계를 차단합니다.
현대적인 치료법 덕분에 HIV 감염인도 이제 70대 이상까지 생존할 수 있게 되었습니다.
바이러스가 완전히 억제되면 HIV 감염인은 타인에게 바이러스를 전파하지 않습니다.
항레트로바이러스제는 HIV를 억제하여 바이러스의 생활사를 차단하고 확산을 막는 데 사용됩니다. 적절한 치료를 받으면 HIV 감염인은 ‘미검출(undetectable)’ 수준의 바이러스 수치를 유지하며 거의 정상에 가까운 기대 수명을 누릴 수 있습니다.
